"Ancillary services can be divided into four categories: A la carte ("owned services"), Commission based ("third-party services"), Loyalty and Advertising. A la carte ancillary services like bags, seats, priority boarding and bundle fares are heavily promoted by airlines and generate substantial revenue. On the other hand, commission based ancillary services underperform, leaving much room for improvement."

"Context provided by Airport Transportation Guides and timing are key to increase conversion of commission based ancillary services."

“People won’t buy a flight + hotel package from you just because you bundled it together. Just putting together the flight + hotel tab (or a vacation website) and showing a 3rd-party hotel offer is not enough. You need to show them a clear value and benefit of it. And this is where most airlines fail.”

"Attaching a separate price tag to each product or service doesn’t mean customers are going to be willing to pay for them. Driving ancillary revenue depends on creating the right opportunities and right messages that resonate with customers in the right moments of their booking journeys."
